Step #1. Get ready to get brutally honest with yourself about what is most important to you.
If you just want to “Sell your home,” then you’re likely to NOT get what you want.
Defining very specifically what is most important to you (and your spouse) and when during the transaction that might change is the key to your home selling experience.
What do you want the most?
1. The highest price?
2. To sell your home faster?
3. To sell your home with the least amount of hassle?
These are the obvious trade-offs, but if you dig into them you’ll find a lot more complexity.
- Often you and your spouse will disagree.
- You or both of you will change your mind as the reality of the selling process gets underway.
- What buyers and agents do can totally throw off your plans if you aren’t careful.
Eyes Wide Open
If you want to sell your home for more money faster and with the least amount of hassle then you need to go into the process eyes wide open with a concrete plan and knowing when to expect changes.
Interview several agents. Most will talk in generalities about marketing or pricing. They won’t get into the guts of what you really want or what can go wrong because they are afraid another agent will make it seem so easy that you’ll hire their competition.
Is staying on a diet easy?
Is raising children easy?
No.
Is it worth it?
Yes!
Well, selling your home can be very difficult too unless you and your agent follow this plan…
